First Aid – CPR Training in Workplace
Members of the Cotta team participated in First Aid, CPR, and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) training yesterday. Beloit Heath Systems provides a training program which is designated for first aid providers in the workplace. The training includes a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. The course also teaches adult CPR and AED, focusing on chest compressions and AED use, and follows the latest American Heart Association guidelines; AED training has been integrated into the CPR portion.
Minimizing risk to workers and decreasing workplace incidents is extremely important. Providing a safe work environment for employees, and offering first aid training, can help increase awareness which could play a factor in helping to reduce the number of accidents and injuries. The training provided in the workplace is also an excellent team-building exercise for those involved. The benefits are not only to the employees around those who received the training, but it can also prove to be beneficial outside the workplace to help save the life of a family member or friend.
